Hélène Bouchet (born 1980) is a French ballet dancer who joined the Hamburg Ballet in 1998. She has been a principal there since 2005.
==Biography==
Born in Cannes in the south of France, she studied ballet at École supérieure de danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower and at the École Nationale de Danse in Marseille under Raymond Franchetti and Dominique Khalfouni.
After dancing with the Roland Petit's Ballet National de Marseille, Bouchet took part in Derek Deane's ''The Nutcracker'' at the English National Ballet. In 1998, she joined the Hamburg Ballet where she has been a principal since 2005. In addition to several solos, John Neumeier has created roles for her as Silvia in ''Préludes CV'' (2003), La Barbarina in ''Death in Venice'' (2003), Eurydice in ''Orpheus'' (2009) and Alma in ''Purgatorio'' (2011).〔 Her repertoire in Hamburg has included Nina in Neumeier's ''The Seagull'', the Princess in ''The Little Mermaid'' and Desdemona in ''Othello''. In 2008, she starred in the title role of Pierre Lacotte's ''La Sylphide'' and in 2010, danced Marguerite in Neumeier's ''The Lady of the Camellias''.〔〔
Bouchet has performed widely as a guest artist in Europe, Japan and the United States. She participated in the International Festival in Vail, Colorado, in 2009 and 2011 and at the 2009 World Ballet Festival in Tokyo. She has also danced at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg in the Gala Concert for the 10th International Ballet Festival and has partnered Roberto Bolle in galas at the Milan Scala.〔 Wearing a gypsy dress, Bouchet performed "The Gipsy Tunes" in Mougins, France in 2013, with her sister, Diane Bouchet, on violin.
Touring with the Hamburg Ballet in February 2014, she took part in the Tokyo Ballet's 50-year anniversary celebrations, dancing the title role in ''Romeo and Juliet'' with Thiago Bordin, another Hamburg Ballet principal. The Hamburg Ballet moved later in the month to California, US, where she danced Titania/Hippolyta in ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' with the San Francisco Ballet, and performed as Princess/Helene in ''The Little Mermaid'' at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Los Angeles.
